EASTER WEEK

MAUNDY THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 2015:

Maundy Thursday, (also known as Holy Thursday, Covenant Thursday, Great and Holy Thursday, Sheer Thursday and Thursday of Mysteries), is the Christian holy day, falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Maundy and the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with theApostles.  It is the fifth day of Holy Week, and is preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.  The date is always between 19 March and 22 April inclusive.

Seder in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 P.M. on April 2, 2015

GOOD FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 2015:

Good Friday is a Christian religious holiday commemorating the crucifixtion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. The holiday is observed during Holy Week.  This occurs on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and my coincide with the Jewish observaance of Passover.  lt is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday or Easter Friday.  The Crucifixion of Jesus was most likely to have been on a Friday (the day before the Jewish Sabbath) John 19:42.

Good Friday Service will be held on April 3, 2015 @ 6:30 P.M. in the Sanctuary.

EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 2015:

Easter or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which is described in the New Testament as having occurred three days after His crucifixtion by the Romans at Calvary.  It is the culmination of the Passion of Christ which is preceded by Lent, a fort day period of fasting, prayer and penance.

The week before Easter is called Holy Week and it contains the days of Maundy Thursday, (also known as Holy Thursday), commemorating the Last Supper as well as Good Friday commemorating the crucifixtion and death of Jesus.

Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover by much of its symbolism, as well as by its position in the calendar. In many languages, the words for "Easter" and "Passover" are identical or very similar.

Every Wednesday evening during Lent from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. there will be a Lenten Bible Study and Service in the Sanctuary.  There is a wonderful and large group attending to hear and learn about the Lenten season from Pastor Bo Sim and Lay Leader Gene Benware.  Join us and share in the service and fellowship.  You will not be disappointed.

Lent in 2015 will start on Wednesday, the 18th of February and will continue for 46 days until Saturday, the 4th of April.

In Western Christianity Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Holy Saturday. The six Sundays in Lent are not counted among the forty days of lent because each Sunday represents a "mini-Easter", a celebration of Jesus' victory over sin and death.

Starting Thursday, February 19, 2015, we will be serving communion every morning  7:00 - 8:00 A.M.

=========================================

 November is the month to take time out to remind ourselves all the things we have to be thankful to God for.  Each day this month find something to be thankful about....your family, your church, your community, the weather, the beauty surrounding us all.

This author is thankful that I live in a country where I am able to go to the church of my choice and worship God without being persecuted or worse.

In November we had our annual church picnic.  See details of all our current and passed events on this website on our ANNUAL EVENTS PAGE.
